SHAWN R. HILL

Principal and Founding Member

Shawn advises BSC Group clients on debt and equity financing and loan workout services for all commercial property types, with an emphasis on the self-storage asset class. In addition, he is a frequent speaker and panelist at self-storage industry trade shows and a contributing writer for national storage industry publications.

Shawn’s professional experience includes credit roles at Duff and Phelps and Fitch Ratings. He also worked for Wells Fargo Bank as a commercial mortgage underwriter and credit analyst, and immediately prior to helping found The BSC Group was a Senior Vice President with Beacon Realty Capital.

 

Shawn earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Urban & Regional Planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with a core emphasis on economic development and real estate finance.  He currently resides in Elmhurst, Illinois with his wife, two children, and their beloved family dog, Pipsqueak.

DEVIN HUBER

Principal and Founding Member

Working in partnership with BSC Group clients, Devin arranges commercial property debt and equity financing solutions for the entire capital stack. His financing expertise and advisory services span all commercial property types with a specific focus on self-storage. Devin is also a contributing author to several real estate trade publications, and a guest presenter and panelist at tradeshows and seminars nationwide.

Prior to helping found The BSC Group, Devin was a Senior Vice President at Beacon Realty Capital. He has also worked at GE Commercial Finance Business Property, Heller Financial, and in Arthur Andersen’s Transaction Advisory Group. Devin received his bachelor’s degree in accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

DREW SIKULA

Senior Vice President

Drew is charged with helping BSC Group clients obtain the best financing options available in today’s market. In addition to focusing on the self storage asset class, Drew is managing the Outdoor Hospitality vertical which is experiencing substantial growth. 

 

Prior to joining The BSC Group, Drew created and led Negotiation Matters Inc., an expense reduction consulting firm. This followed a decade in both client service and corporate finance/operations leadership roles, including having served in CFO, VP, GM, Director, and Controller roles for private and public corporations. As a foundation, Drew started his career with twelve years at Ernst & Young where he served in the Financial Services practice.


Born and raised in Chicagoland, Drew graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and is a Certified Public Accountant. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling with his wife and two children, playing golf, and spending time with his seven siblings.

ADAM KARNES

Vice President

Adam delivers debt and equity solutions for all areas of commercial real estate transactions, including refinance, acquisition, construction, and distressed debt financing. Adam specializes in the self-storage asset class but has experience in all commercial property types which helps to fortify the business offerings of the BSC Group across various sectors. Adam has authored many articles for industry trade publications and enjoys presenting on commercial real estate financing.

Adam’s prior professional experience includes a financial analyst role at global rating agency DBRS, within the CMBS group that covers US, Canadian and European commercial real estate. At DBRS Adam underwrote nearly $1.5 billion of combined traditional conduit and non-stabilized loans across all property types. He also helped develop and test quantitative models used to assess credit worthiness for multi-loan pooled transactions as well as single-borrower transactions. Adam earned bachelor’s degrees in real estate and finance from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, with a core emphasis on commercial real estate finance. Adam was also a member of the UW – Madison Real Estate Club and is an active member in the UW Alumni Association and Mortgage Bankers Association.

Adam currently resides in Milwaukee with his family. Adam enjoys golfing, hunting, and cooking, as well as walking his dog Bruce Wayne.
